Rough Around the Edges, but Worth It for the People, Youth Hostel Luxembourg City

There were ups and downs during my one-night stay at the Youth Hostel in Luxembourg City. Though not the most refined location, if you're only passing through and willing to meet others, it's worth thinking about.

Reaching the hostel from the main train station takes some work especially if you're walking with baggage. Though you'll have to walk some to locate the correct stop, there is a bus that drops off close by. Merely something to consider ahead of time.

The room was basic but functional; for a short stay, it was acceptable. The shared restrooms, on the other hand, might benefit from more frequent cleaning. They weren't awful, but surely seemed somewhat ignored. Another low point was breakfast: even coming early, most of the food was gone and what was left was rather uninspiring.

The Best Part - The People: The social atmosphere is what really made the stay valuable. I ran across some fantastic fellow travellers and eventually wandered the city with them. Hostels are unique because of that sort of connection and spontaneity; this one came through on that score.

Final Reflections: This most likely is not your location if you want comfort or top-tier facilities. But for a quick, inexpensive stay with decent social energy, it does the job just go in with reasonable expectations.
